Long-distance move from Columbus, GA to Fort Worth, TX

Do NOT use Expert Van Lines.

Do not use this moving company. I originally chose this company because of the price. I was price comparing (the sales rep was aware of this), and I believe she gave me a low estimate so that I would choose them. On the day of pick up, most of my items were loaded into the truck, then I was told that my cubic footage was well above what the estimate was, and that this would cost around $2000 more than my original estimate. I asked for the items to be removed from the truck so that I could find a different moving company. I was told that I would not get my deposit back, and that it would costs $250/hour to unload with a minimum of 4 hours. I felt trapped. I spoke with the manager who yelled at me on the phone and blamed me stating that I lied about the number of items I had. Why would I lie? That would not benefit me in any way.

A quick note about how this works- you call the company and tell them over the phone what items you have. For example, do you have a big dresser, a small dresser, or a medium sized dresser and so on for all individual items, boxes, etc. The sales rep creates a list of your items, but who is to say what is small, medium or large or how much space your items will take up in the truck (pricing is done by cubic footage)? I asked multiple times if I should go through and actually count every box, and I mentioned that I wasn't sure whether to classify an item as small, medium or large. The sales rep stated that I didn't need to worry and that their computer system automatically over-calculates the cubic footage. If the space is less, then my price would be less. She insisted that everything would be fine and we would likely be very close to if not less than the estimate. This was all a lie and a ploy to get my items trapped on the moving truck.

Anyways, I wasn't willing to pay thousands of dollars for nothing to be accomplished, so I paid the extra money and the company took my items. I was informed AFTER my items were gone that the company has 15 business days from the day I say I am ready for my items until they actually must be delivered. This part is actually written in fine print on the paperwork, but I was never warned of this beforehand. The company took its time delivering my items, so I was left with no furniture for almost 3 weeks. In addition, the company was incredibly difficult to get in touch with once my items were on the truck. I called over and over leaving voicemails with as many phone numbers as I could trying to get an update on when my items would arrive. Finally I was able to speak to someone that could tell me something after about a week of calling multiple times a day and threatening to file a police report.

The day of delivery, the driver showed up around 5pm. I was told the day before that he would arrive between 8am and 10am, so he was very late. Not only was it difficult to take time off of work with brand new jobs and only a days notice, but the late arrival meant taking the entire day off instead of just the morning I originally expected. When the driver arrived, he stated that he couldn't fit the truck close enough to the apartment, so it was going to cost an extra $500-$600 for a "long carry". He tried to make it sound better because he was able to get it close enough that we didn't need a "shuttle service" which would costs thousands. Luckily, I had read the fine print on all of my documents, and I was expecting this. I already had my apartment management team backing me stating that they have had several semi-size moving trucks that fit with no problems. The driver did in fact fit the truck without need to "long carry" the items, but only after I started to involve my apartment management. Also, because the driver showed up so late, I had to help unload the moving truck so that unloading could be finished that night. Otherwise, the movers were planning to come back the next day. This would have required a second day off of work for me.

Overall, this has been the worst experience I have ever had with any costumer service company. The company is a scam and will do anything to trap you into paying more money. If you need a moving company, I highly recommend you learn from my mistake and chose a company with good reviews that comes to your house to give an estimate. Do not take estimates over the phone as they are useless. I am appalled by the way this company treats its customers once the items are loaded onto the truck. I have never written a bad review for any company, but I truly felt like I need to warn anyone thinking of using this company.

Long-distance move from Lexington, KY to Fremont, CA

Expert Vanlines LLC.

To shift I have my house hold items I have booked package movers. I was already having a quote for around $2000 but Expert Van lines given me assurance that they are providing insurance which is 0 deductible and 100% coverage of items if missed or broken with costing me $2950.
After as per scheduled date they came but with contact of 20 pages and asked me sign it & explained whole contract in 25 sec where I need to sign at around 16 places. When I asked give me some time to read like couple of days then they you need to for today arrival which is $1000. As today labor and truck cost our will be wasted As my discussion already happened with Expert Van associates in past I have proceeded with their packaging shifting of my stuff.
They delivered partial house hold items in CA on 29 May 2017. And reported that we are still searching your pending cloth wardrobe big 4 boxes. PFA of receipt & Inventory list (on that they have signed and accepted that at the time delivery 4 big boxes are missing) Now, from last 3 weeks they don't have any update on my items & offering me $150 but not updating on my items. I want to register FIR for my stolen items with total value of $3962 and broken value of $1692.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Florida

Thank you!! Great job.

I was so nervous to go with a moving company honestly, but Expert did a great job. I don't really have any complaints. The move cost did go up a bit, but I didn't get rid of my daughters furniture so I had to take it with me. Delivery was pretty close to the date that I wanted and the crew on both sides were very professional and got the job done fast. I would recommend them to my friends. Thank you Kate, for sticking by me from start to finish.
